Give your teen the results they need.

It’s about time…

Are you struggling to support your teen through their exam revision, homework or studies?

Are you wondering if you should just leave them alone to get on with it?

Has their school run a revision evening that’s left you with a blank calendar and a single instruction:“Go and make a plan”?

Do you want to throw their games console out of the window when you find them playing instead of studying?

Study isn’t ALL about studying!

One of the main things that’s putting your teen off studying is the belief they are expected to study all the time. But while your job isn’t 24-hours a day, their study shouldn’t be either.

Just like you, they need downtime. Because taking regular breaks - including plenty of sleep:

Improves concentration and memory recall

Boosts creative thinking

Increases energy

Your teens’ enthusiasm for study won’t be helped if you’re moaning at them when you find them not studying. If you force them to study, they’ll probably do a rubbish job of it anyway.

And is that what you really want?

What happens when you’re not there to push? What if everything starts to crumble? You’ll have taught them nothing about standing on their own feet and learning how to manage their own time.

The greatest gift you can give your teen is to help them discover simple steps that will get them the results they need, now and for the rest of their life.

Be their parent, not their enemy!

Time to Study is designed to help you support your teen to structure their study, and get the results - and the rest - they need.

The key is ‘support’. Share something with your teen that will help them to understand the decisions they’re about to make around how they spend their time before, during, and after their exams.

Your job isn't to worry for them, your job is to give them enough information to allow them to worry for themselves. Your teen wants to be treated like an adult – this is how you can make a start.

By following four simple steps, you’ll have a calendar that will show exactly what your teen has planned, so they can stay on track and you can give them the support they need.

If you walk into their room and see they’re on their phone or games console, a quick glance at the calendar will either tell you if that’s what they planned. If it is, everything’s good and there’s nothing for you to do. If not, a quick reminder is all that’s required: “You realise now’s your time to study?”

Time to Study will give you everything you need to help your teen plan their studies to get the grades they need by being their parent, not their enemy.

How do you give your teen Time to Study?

The Time to Study method consists of four simple steps, and it’s completely free.

How you follow those steps is up to you, but we recommend helping your teen take their time and allow everything to sink in over four days.

That means doing step one on day one, step two on day two etc.

Before you start, you’ll need:

  • approximately 10 pieces of A4 paper

  • a pen

  • sticky-tape

  • small sticky-notes in red, amber, green and blue (e.g. https://amzn.eu/d/9sSllC0)

  • your teen’s exam timetable

  • revision topics (e.g. mock results, advice from teacher, revision guide etc.)

  • future job / college entry requirements

Step One

See the ‘big picture’.

Step Two

Put YOU first!

Step Three

Get your ‘ducks in a row’

Step Four*

Plan your coming week

* You need only complete the first three steps once, at the beginning of the journey. You should then complete step four every week until your teen finishes their exams.

Why is Time to Study free?

Adults’ relationship with time is broken, and we believe it starts at school.

School teaches young people that unless you're sitting at a desk you're not working. And as you move into the world of work that’s the only thing that’s valued - doing stuff.

Sure, as you move into the world of work you need to spend some time ‘doing a job’. But you also need to look at where you’re going and make sure you get there - leadership.

But you also need downtime, rest.

Our mission is to create a world of better led people. While we work with organisations all over the world to help their people find the time to lead, we believe the first step is to show young people that the journey to leadership begins at school - by learning to lead themselves.
